_the second installation
_Water me, baby! For the 2025 Turnfest, the Water Bench was installed a second time. Together with the mobile Green Room, it created a quality public space for two months at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, raising awareness about land use in big cities.
People can sit here, enjoy their lunch break, eat ice cream, enjoy the view—and if they're attentive, they’ll water the plants growing behind them.

_the first installation
_The Bundesstiftung Baukultur provided 10 experimental plots of 10 square meters each for the 2024 Convention on Building Culture. Students from all over Germany searched for sustainable alternatives to car parking spaces.
The Water Bench is largely made of modular scaffolding components. The seating and roofing elements are recycled parts. Friends, family, and a scaffolding company from Berlin supported us in its realization.

_Idea and competition
_How much water is lost because it rains on an asphalt parking lot and is drained into the sewer system, bypassing the natural water cycle? And how many living beings—even small organisms and plants—could benefit if that weren't the case?
These questions gave rise to the Water Bench, which was one of the winning projects in the 10 sqm Building Culture competition by the Bundesstiftung Baukultur. It was first installed in Potsdam in 2024..
